HOW TO PLAY

Football Fairways is a retro 8-bit golf game where every shot is a football question. Name a real footballer who fits the question, and his number is how far the ball goes, in yards.

EVERY SHOT IS A QUESTION

Each shot asks for a stat: Premier League goals, appearances, assists, clean sheets, caps and more. Type a player and his number sends the ball that many yards towards the pin.

Need 180 yards to reach the green? Think of a striker with around 180 Premier League goals, or settle for a safe 90 and lay up. Go too big and you fly the green into the trees, the rough or the water. Too small and you come up short.

Get the ball in the hole in as few shots as you can. Hit the exact distance that's left and it drops in. Do that from the tee and it's a Hole-in-One.

THE DAILY ROUND: FREE, EVERY DAY

• Three holes at Selhurst No. 2: a par 3, a par 4 and a par 5
• The same holes and questions for everyone that day, and one go each
• A live top-10 leaderboard. Level scores go to countback: the last hole, then the middle one
• Share your card with the group chat, then come back tomorrow. A new round starts at midnight UK time

PLAY YOUR MATES ONLINE

If a mate has the full game, they can host a room and send you its seven-digit code. Join from the website for free: up to three free players can join each room. Everyone answers on their own phone and watches every shot.
